This week we are going to examine events and how they progress. Events have a beginning, a middle, and an end (and sometimes even more steps in the middle). We will use graphic organizers and draw, doodle, write, sticker, and describe how we see progressions over time.

What does the map of your life look like?

Share a photo of you as a kid so we can compare how you have mapped your life this far.


Tomorrow's Show & Share: Tomorrow you are going to share a knock knock Joke. Share your favorite knock knock joke so we can review how jokes are sequenced in specific orders.


Plan Your Week (10 min)

PRESENTERS: Each week we will go through our portfolio planners and take time to plan our week as a group. Review upcoming plans, tasks, or habits people want to complete or discuss. Share work completed last week. 

What are some ideas and plans that you have for this week? Let's fill in any appointments, plans, habits, or tasks you are hoping to accomplish this week. You will record this in your planner portfolio.

My Map (10-15 min)

PRESENTERS: The map activity is an example of planning for the future. The activity is located inside of the portfolio planner and can be filled out as a team. Feel free to discuss how you goal planned in the past or any ideas you have.


Creating a plan and goals helps us have an idea of what we want to accomplish in the future. 


Using a plain sheet of paper, draw a timeline with a beginning, middle, and today. You can write, draw, doodle, sticker or describe points in time in your life that you consider important to becoming the person you are today. You can add the sheet to your portfolio to come back to during the week. 


Start by describing yourself as a kid. What did you like to do? Can you think of any memories that had a lasting impact on you?


What is one big thing that happened in your life that had a distinct impact. Describe 1 key life event (finding a friend, losing a friend, moving out on my own, learning something new). Remember, these things can be happy or sad, there is no right or wrong answer and everyone has an individual experience.


Lastly, describe where you are now on your own life map. How did things in your life path get you to be the person you are today?

Life Skills Story Book 1 – Story 3: Two Winners Part 2 (10-15 min)

PRESENTERS: Last week we went through part 1 of the life skills story. This week we will finish the story and complete the corresponding story questions and prompts.

Part two of Two Winners! We are going to review what happened in week one and finish the story. 


What are some important things you remember from part one last week?


Let's use the Questions that you got in your packet last week, and some thinking skills to go deeper into the story.

  1. Question 2 asks you count by threes. Test your math skills as a group. Try counting by any number between 3 and 9 other than 5. See if everyone can take a turn finding the next number.  
  2. Using the story can you find the beginning, middle and end?
  3. Think of a journey you took in the past. Can you share the beginning, middle and end of that journey?

Bus Schedules – If the bus leaves at 8:00, it should… (5-10 min)

PRESENTERS: This activity is to recognize the process of a bus route. 


Find a local bus schedule and reviewthe bus schedule with participants.

Buses run on a scheduled time so that riders know when and where the bus will be for transportation. 


Buses can be an excellent source of public transportation.

  3. How often did you use it?

Review the bus route times and stops as a team. 

  1. What time will the bus be at a specific bus stop? 
  2. What bus stop will be visited at a specific time? Take turns describing when and where the bus should be according to the bus schedule.

PRESENTERS: Review the life map activity as a team from Monday. We will be discussing how events in our lives change over time. Also use this time to update an habits, tasks, or other planner portfolio updates.

Discussing Our Life Map (10-15 min)

PRESENTERS: Using the timeline, ask participants to share one event and the date that it happened. This will help participants recognize that life events happen earlier or later depending on circumstances


We have been working on our life roadmaps. If some people are comfortable sharing an event and a date from your personal time lines, we can compare how our life events are different for different reasons. It's also fun to realize what other people's lives are like in the same time frame that we are living ours. 


Using zoom annotation, create a team timeline or everyone in the group and mark the times (ages) in which the events occurred.


Note any differences or similarities for participants key events.

Covid Mitigation Moment (5-10 min)

What to do if you start to feel ill.

If you start to feel ill and think you are sick using the following sequence for guidance


Stay Calm being ill is a part of life. Many people have gotten illnesses.


Monitor your symptoms what is going on? How do you feel? If you need to, mark your symptoms in your portfolio planner so you have a good idea of how things have progressed over time.


Call, email, or contact your doctor or health care specialist before you visit. This will help the office prepare or send you to the places you must go to receive treatment or further information. 


Stay out of contact with others if you think you are ill! This is a huge way to safely stop the spread of the virus. Stay home, stay safe, and keep others safe.

Defining Advocacy for myself(5-10 min)

After you review the dictionary's definition, what are some ways that you advocate for yourself?

PRESENTERS: Really allow at least 2 minutes of quiet pondering for this one. We can start here to engage in more time to allow our thoughts and awareness to gain power.

The Lanterman Act Timeline (10-15 min)

PRESENTERS: To continue the discussion on advocacy, the team will review the Lanterman Act and it's timeline. Participants can identify key dates of the act, describe how the act impacts themn personally, and brainstorm ways in which the Lanterman Act may change in the future. 


"The Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act, known as the “Lanterman Act,” is an important piece of legislation that was passed in 1969. This is the California law that says people with developmental disabilities and their families have a right to get the services and supports they need to live like people without disabilities."

Timeline circumstances are affected by the world around us and things going on in our everyday lives. What are some ways that you think your personal timeline will change in the future?


Identify one way that you'd like to actively change your life map in the future and write it into your timeline. This can be anything from wanting to learn something new to drinking more water each day.


Finally, Wrap the week! What goals were  achieved, why/why not? Which habits did you track? Transfer anything that needs to be transfered to next week. Share your personal wins, adjustments, and finally rate the week.

Describe a Movie Plot Line (10-15 min)

PRESENTERS: Decide on a movie together and use the zoom WHITE board to brainstorm important plot points from the movie you choose. Try to use a movie that has been watched by many participants if possible.


All movies have a beginning, middle, and end of the plot for the viewers. Today we are going to pick a movie (and maybe watch a couple movie clips on youtube ) and describe the beginning, the middle or plot twist, and the end of the movie.


How can you describe the plot line for movies?Almost all movies  beginning, a middle (or a plot twist), and a finale!


Watch some trailers for favorite movies on YouTube. How are trailers different from the timeline of the full movie? Do trailers mix up the timeline to show viewers the most exciting parts? If you were going to make a trailer of the movie of your life, what would you include?
