PCT & Safety 37

Person-Centered Thinking & Safety

Check out the national day!

Check In (5 min)

How was your weekend? Did you enjoy the warm weather? Did you go outdoors?

Introduce the Week (3 min)

This week we are going to discuss inventions. Our theme is What is? What could be?

Inventions started with a simple idea someone had. They looked at what they had and thought about ways to make it better.

This week we are going to use categories and features for comparisons.

Show & Share (10-min)

What is something you could not live without? Electricity, cell phones, the internet are all inventions that we now use in our lives almost every day. What invention could you not live without?

Tomorrow's Show & Share: The coolest human-made place I've ever saw. Where in the world have you been that was made by humans that was incredible? Examples could be the golden gate bridge, the St. Louis Arch, or the Eiffel Tower. Share your cool place.

Comparing Evacuation Plans (10-15 min)

PRESENTERS:

Next we will review safety evacuation plans for a fire or an earthquake. Participants will note at least one difference between the safety evacutation

We are going to review two types of evacuation plans today. One will review steps to take if you are somewhere in which a fire breaks out and the other is in the event of an earthquake.

Earthquake Safety & Evacuation Plans - Red Cross

Here are questions to consider once we review each safety evacuation plan:

  1. What are similarities and differences between these evacuations plans?
  2. Why do you think they are similar?
  3. Why do you think they are different?
  4. Why is it important to plan differently (or similarly) for evacuations in buildings?

Optional Level-Up

Design your own comparison chart in your portfolio planner. Mark three differences and three similarities that have occured in your life over the last two weeks of program.
