Theme for the Month: This month we'll be talking about "the games of life" - things that are an ongoing part of our lives that we can do well or poorly. If we do well, we can gain a great deal. If we play these games poorly they can cause us a lot of suffering.

Skill for the Week: This week's Game of Life for discussion is MONEY!! When we manage our money well, we feel confident and ready for the future. We can enjoy material pleasures and share our good fortune. When we are thoughtless with money we often find ourselves without and our quality of life is negatively impacted.

  • What tools do you like for tracking spending?

Can you track Jerry's spending in this story? How much did he spend on this day?

Jerry woke up late and dashed out of the house to make the bus pickup. He forgot his bus pass so he had to pay 5 dollars for a day pass. When he got to work they were collecting for a baby shower gift for a co-worker so Jerry added 6 dollars to the collection. During his break he walked to Starbucks with his co-worker and bought a soy latte for 5.50. He also forgot his lunch so he had to eat in the cafeteria, which was cheaper than a restaurant. Usually he would spent about 10 dollars at Subway but in the cafeteria a good sandwich was only 7 dollars. He decided to pay another dollar fifty for chips.

See the bottom of the grand total of Jerry's spending.
