Identifying individuals with developmental disabilities from pop culture  (5-10 min)

PRESENTERS: As a team, have participants search for individuals that are currently in pop culture that have developmental disabilities. 

Once the participants find some one, have them share their screen to show the team.

People with developmental disabilities are now starring in movies, walking on run ways as models, and completing Iron Man competitions. 


What is exciting about this? New opportunities are happening every day in pop culture for anyone!

PRESENTERS: Each week we will review topics in regard to mitigating COVID-19 as individuals.

  • Cleaning and disinfecting your space is an important factor to mitigating COVD-19. Let's review some spaces that you you might use frequently throughout the day?
  • Why is it important to clean and disinfect these spaces?
  • Look at your planner portfolio for tips and tricks for cleaning and disinfecting these spaces using proper tools and PPE. What are some important things that you have taken note of?

Optional Level-Up 

Write a paragraph or create a visual for the affirmation you chose to practice with yourself this week.

Defining plain language in documentation.(5-10 min)

PRESENTERS: Participants have a work sheet in their portfolio planners that they can use to create a checklist as a team. This checklist will be a checklist for them to compare documents and ensure that documents are in plain language.


Plain language documents are used to describe important documents in terms that are accessible to everyone. Today we will review what goes into a plain language document and create our own plain language document checklist to reference if we ever need to review a document in the future.

Some questions to consider:

  • Why is it important that we have plain language documents in our programs?
  • How would/could plain language documents support your goals?

PRESENTERS: Complete the Sizing Recipes worksheet that is available in this week's print outs. Click here for worksheet

Complete the Sizing Recipes worksheet as a team. Share your answers and the reasons you camp up with those answers.


Optional Level-Up 

Design a petition to share.

  • Find a historical petition.
  • Using this as a basis, morph the historical petition into a modern-day petition.

Extra bonus level up: make the modern-day petition seem like it’s actually a historical petition using specific language, fonts, or fun backgrounds.

Virtual Scavenger Hunt(10-15 min)

PRESENTERS: Use the list below to have participants find items virtually. Participants can have either 

It's time for virtual scavenger hunt! Use the following list to explore the space around you (or look online) for the items. Share the times with the team once you find them!

  • A good book
  • Something that is blue
  • A food you can eat
  • An item that makes you laugh when you look at it
  • Something that you use to pass time

Once you find those things, participants can come up with their own things for their peers to find.


Optional Level-Up 

Reach out to a friend at another program and find their affirmation or productive self-talk works for the week. Share it with the team.
